Random Trap

 


A monster's lair will more than likely have at least one snare. Roll for Random Traps table. 


  1. A 6 foot spear shoots out from its nearby hiding place. Effect: You take 8 CP. 

  2. Sinister vines drape down from above. Effect: A collection of poisonous eggs fall out of your mouth and hatch into demons.

  3. A sudden explosion disrupts the environment and causes you trouble. Effect: Causes 10 CP 

  4. A dart shoots out from its nearby hiding place. Effect: You cannot move for 1 hour. 

  5. A sinister substance creeps through the very air around you. Effect: The part of you that interacted with the trap turns to stone for 6 hours.

  6. A smooth plate hidden on the floor. It is easy to spot and triggered when someone steps on it. Effect: You are terrified for 6 minutes.

  7. Living vines crawl out from cracks in the walls or ground. Effect: Phaegus Zombies rise out of the ground around you and attack.

  8. Strange markings adorn the environment or an object. They glow charcoal. Effect: You are frightened for 1 minute.

  9. The door in front of you goes up in a rapid blaze. Sometimes a simple doorway can cause trouble. Effect: You take 6 CP.

  10. Sticky, icky webs fill the space around you. Effect: A shadow version of you appears and attacks you.

  11. Banishing doorway: Sometimes a simple doorway can cause trouble. Effect: Banishes you to another place far away.

  12. A damaging substance sprays out and covers you. Effect: You take 6 CP.

  13. Chains made of blackened steel. Effect: You take 8 CP.

  14. A monster that can take any shape to deceive you. Effect: You phase through the floor or nearest wall and end up in a new place.

  15. An arrow shoots out from its nearby hiding place. Effect: You turn into a rat for 5 minutes.

  16. A sharp metal needle loaded on a spring. It's triggered by interacting with an object. Effect: An unnatural calm comes over you for 6 hours. You find it hard to attack anyone or anything. 

  17. A thin but durable rope is pulled tight around you. Effect: You take 8 CP. 

  18. A statue of a knight, triggered when touched. Effect: mold starts to appear on your toes. Within 3 days it will overtake and kill you unless you find a cure.

  19. Screaming doorway: Sometimes a simple doorway can cause trouble. Effect: You take 6 CP, damage so painful it causes you to scream uncontrollably. This may alert nearby monsters.

  20. A statue of a warrior. You are struck by lightning and take 13 CP.
