Random Location

Anytime you travel you're going to come upon a location of interest. Roll on the Random Locations Table to see where your players end up. Again, be advised this can have a side quest effect, but the purpose of these random encounters is to populate the world with interesting distractions for your players. If they want that bounty they're going to have to work for it and kill that monster. If they can.

  1. Farm: There is a strange inscription above the door. NPCs: Kathryn Bowes, a baker and Rose Dresdden, an egg farmer.

  2. Gatehouse: A few guards stand outside playing cards. NPCs: Bob Windrunner and Gowen Spall.

  3. Bathhouse: Someone died here last week, but the proprietor won't discuss it. NPCs: Mark Winterheart and Sapphire Cunningham.

  4. Prestigious Garlic (Italian fusion restaurant): The door seems to open from the bottom up. NPCs: Gia Jones, Blake Poots.

  5. Outpost 42 (secret military installation): There is an old mine at the center of the outpost. Some speculate that there must be another entrance somewhere, allowing the outpost's staff a secret way in.

  6. Circle of Covens: The witches of old gathered here. Newer generations of wicca have tried to understand its secrets, but any who attempt to gather here suffer a terrible curse.

  7. Temple of Satan's Queen: You can still witness the unnatural size of a fallen giant. Its skull is a permanent feature of the volcano in which this temple has been erected. From its mouth erupts scathing hot lava - the boiling blood of the earth.

  8. Glacial Forge: An ancient alien constructed its forge at the heart of an ancient glacier. It required the extreme cold of a northern lake near Patriot Springs to quench the special metals it worked.

  9. The Tuskegee River: Mermaids From Hell congregate nearby, bringing the river to a violent froth. None have ever tamed this river, but a few fools have certainly tried to cross. Perhaps a bargain can be struck?

  10. Church of the Crimson Goddess: The blood is binding. The blood is time. The blood is sacred. From Her grace, we flow.

  11. Cave of the Lion-Men: Dark deeds. Dark shadows. Dark magic (maybe). Dare not enter the lair of the dreaded Lion-Men, lest you become their zoological caretaker.

  12. Tomb of the Well-Known Soldier: The nasty, brutish thing that dwells in this expansive tomb kept secluded and guarded 24/7 is best left alone. The bones of its victims litter the ground, half eaten.

  13. Clarksville: Everyone passes through this one train little town. Not many stay. Once a year, there is a notable festival hosted by the area's farmers. Rumour has it you can get the world's best candied pumpkin at the festival. Hurry. The last train is leaving.

  14. Jack's House: Jack used to have a family. Now Jack has no family. He sits alone at his cottage and never comes out, except to chop wood for the fire or go fishing. He insists the family is still there.

  15. Lake Falls: Friends and lovers come to this pool to watch the water tumble out from the mountain. Something about it calms the mind, and promotes spiritual reflection. Or turmoil within.

  16. Stone Circle: When a powerful witch met her end, a giant tree sprang up where she fell. Around the tree of life, the giant monoliths were placed, an everlasting circle of guardians to honor the witch. Today, the tree has been cut down. Great power still lingers here.

  17. In the heart of the woods lies an ancient forge. The forge is contained inside a spire that once stood 200 feet tall. For centuries, the forge has been cold, but now the collapsed spire has been discovered thanks to an archaeological dig.

  18. Cave of the Howling Mother: Hiding in maternal desperation is one Baby Momma who waits for nightfall and then ventures out in search of children. Especially infants.

  19. The Museum of Natural History: When a Lammasu Guardian (at the Gates of Babylon) was awakened the museum was abandoned. Now it haunts the halls, standing guard over priceless relics and artifacts of treasure.

  20. Pot of Gold: While excavating an old warehouse workers uncovered a pot of gold – and the Leprechaun claiming it's his, and his alone.
