Random Act of Horror


Shortly after arriving, roll on the Random Acts of Horror For No Reason Whatsoever table. The journey so far has caused just enough trauma to give them a good fright. After this little scare, have them make a Fear check. If fail, they will be at -2 disadvantage for the next battle until they can make a successful Fear check. 


Random Acts of Horror For No Reason Whatsoever


  1. A rotting corpse appears for a split second at the edge of your vision.

  2. You could SWEAR you are hearing someone chanting your name. 

  3. The spirit of a witch burned at the stake has returned for vengeance, appearing as a flaming pillar in the town square each night.

  4. All the water in Patriot Springs has turned to blood.

  5. A black,weathered box. You could swear you hear something moving inside of it.

  6. A severed hand coated in blood, your name is tattooed on its palm.

  7. The Ronald Reagan Asylum for Gifted Youngsters has had a breakout, and the patients are roaming the city.

  8. A horrid howling issues from a nearby chimney, the sound driving animals away and sending a chill down your spine.

  9. A statue with disembodied eyes staring from within.

  10. A strange chanting is echoing from a local graveyard each night.

  11. A local girl claims her doll is haunted, and has been tormenting her for weeks.

  12. A quill without ink, when writing with it, it scrawls in blood.

  13. Every time you look at a door, shadows extend from beneath it.

  14. A corpse with fungus sprouting from its skull.

  15. The moon turns a deep shade of red every time you use your cell at night. 

  16. A disembodied tongue that crawls along the floor.

  17. Occasionally your vision blurs and you find yourself somewhere you did not mean to be.

  18. Two corpses, their internal organs spilled out and tied together with a sign hanging from it which reads: SHOP AT COSTINGTON'S. 

  19. A journal written by you, you can't remember writing any of this. 

  20. A soldier's uniform that stands on its own, as if occupied by a body, it gestures desperately at you.

Game Mechanics (AKA the Rules)

Before you roll up a character familiarize yourself with the game mechanics. If you've got the time. If not, roll up a character as fast as possible and start playing. Because, really? That's the best way to learn.  Here's what you do: skip ahead to Creating a Character. Either make a copy of the Character Sheet or write it out by hand. It's not long at all so your hand won't cramp. Follow the instructions in Creating a Character and in less than 10 minutes you will be ready to play. Really.  Leave everything else to the Game Master.
